Verification & Metrics

Why we separate verification signals

A domain-control badge answers one question: does this account control the listed website? Search Console answers a different question: can the account access first-party Google search performance data for a matching property? Third-party metrics are estimates generated by their respective providers.

Domain ownership

Publishers can verify through a DNS TXT record, a file under the site’s /.well-known/ directory, or a meta tag on the homepage. Verification records can be rechecked if ownership changes.

Traffic and authority data

When configured by the marketplace operator, profiles can retrieve data from Ahrefs, Semrush or DataForSEO. Each provider uses its own databases and methodology, so figures from different providers should not be treated as interchangeable.

First-party Search Console data

Publishers may connect Google Search Console using read-only OAuth access. The marketplace can then confirm a matching property and retrieve recent aggregate clicks and impressions. Search Console access is optional and can be disconnected by the account holder.
